Project Overview

Reliance Industries invited Mitchell Drilling to work with them on a significant surface-to-inseam CBM project in India.

To best serve this client and the growing demand for the services of our suite of companies from other clients around the globe, Mitchell Drilling International (MDI) was created and staffed by a global team of specialists. MDI calls on the total resources of the corporation, while having its own dedicated team of experts based in New Delhi, India to service the Reliance project.

Shadhol is and extremely remote location in Central India. Mitchell's 36 year heritage in working in remote location in Australia has enabled the company to successfully work with the logistical challenges faced with this project.

For logisitical reasons, the drilling rig and auxiliary equipment were mobilised from Australia and travelled to site over rough terrain. When putting together the drilling crews, men were chosen who excelled at on the spot repairs despite a potential lack of equipment and resources.

Local personnel were recruited and trained up to become competent drillers. This has unearthed some very talented men who are now part of an exchange program between out Indian drillers and Australian drillers. MDI are investing in our Indian drillers by sending them to Australia for 3 months at a time to receive further hands on training there.

This is a very popular decision and is being well received by the local industry and very much forms part of MDI's "think global, act local" philosophy.

A group of multi skilled Indian based drillers will enable Mitchell’s to better service, future contracts in that region, as well as expand globally.

Over 40 wells have so far been drilled with Reliance.
